The container transportation become more and more important in shipping, so that container terminal is prosperous unexampled in history. The traditional container terminal production scheduling system has been unable to meet the urgent needs of the production efficiency, so the application of advanced technology and equipment become the trend. This year, GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) applications have been rapid development in the civilian area. The technology and equipment have stabilized. As a major assistive technology of container terminal production scheduling, the common precision of the GNSS differential systems are gradually applied in container terminals.The assist system of container terminal production scheduling (production assist system or the system for short) is a support system which uses high-precision GPS (Global Positioning System) differential system, GIS, PLC, computer and other technology production. This system aims to make up the legacy system in container terminal, improve the accuracy of the production operations data, and strengthen the existing system stability and safety of production operation, so enhance the efficiency of the terminal.The paper describe the development of container terminal and container terminal production scheduling system, simple analysis of the current advantages and disadvantages of several common GNSS systems and their application status in the container terminal. And study on the current common container terminal production scheduling system, combined with the statues of the production operations in Xiamen port Haitian Container Terminal and the analysis of applications, work out the main function of production assist system. Base on the system framework design principle, the production assist system is made up of mobile terminal subsystem, the data center subsystem, RTK subsystems, data communications subsystem, scheduling control center and 3D large-screen subsystem. Thereafter, the paper recounts the subsystem functional modules of production assist system, external interfaces and internal communication protocols, and outlines the implementation of major software subsystems. Finally, the paper describes the design and implementation process of the system test of the production assist system in the simulated environment, gives the test results in the actual operating environment and the system improvements.Through the system functional requirements analysis, outline design, detailed design and function of the system implementation and testing, this paper describes the design and implementation process of production assist system. And it recounts the system of two technical problems:external interface design and communication protocol design. The production assist system accomplishes the design functions, achieve the expected results, and get into trial run.
