The Research Of Quality Management In Outsourced Software Testing Project

As the rapid development of information technology, software is being used in many areas in the society. We have been paying more attention to the software quality. Software testing is regarded as the patron saint of software quality. The quality of testing process determines the product quality and the success of a project.Nowadays more and more software companies begin adopting the strategy of software outsourcing to reduce cost, improve efficiency, and develop their advantages and dominance in the competition. But software outsoureing in China is still at the initial stage of development currently, and there are still some issues in project management.Compared with general software testing, outsourced software testing is more complicated, and it is more difficult for contract-issuing party to conduct quality management in the project. Most researches in this field were done from vendor's point of view and focused more on the off-shore outsourced testing projects. Only few researches were done from the viewpoint of project manager of contract-issuing party focusing on the on-site'outsourced testing project. This results in software products being delivered with low quality.The quality management in software research and development project is conducted by two processes:quality assurance and quality control. Software testing is a key method for software quality assurance and a major activity for software quality control. It is also important to conduct quality assurance during the process of software testing. Starting with the concept of outsourced testing and quality management, this thesis discusses the factors that impact the quality of outsourced testing and the major issues in the current outsourced testing projects. Then, from contract-issuing party's point of view, it proposes a quality management method for the outsourced testing project of on-site testing, including three parts:1) Bidimensional "outsourced testing life cycle quality management model" composed of PDCA Cycle and outsourced testing management modules; 2) "Milestone-driven outsourced testing quality assurance and quality control" based on software release life cycle; 3) It emphasizes and concludes how to improve the communication with outsourcing team members and how to set up the outsourcing team. Lastly, it describes and summarizes the implementation of this quality management method in a real outsourced localization testing project.
