The thesis presents the work of the project of high-performance RF front-end in broadband wireless access platform. The project has acquired the support of the development fund for electronic and information industry from MIIT. The platform is used to test different standards for mobile communication. RF front-end is the key function module, determining the accuracy and precision of the platform. Broadband RF synthesizer is the part of RF front-end. The module has following functions:generate two RF local oscillators which frequency is from 400 to 2800 MHz, one is for up conversion, the other for down conversion. The synthesizer module must output signals with broad frequency range, good phase noise performance, low level spurs and harmonics for measuring all kinds of telecommunication application. To get good phase noise performance, low level spurs and harmonics simultaneously is the difficulty of the project.The thesis is involved in research and design of broadband RF synthesizer, including requirement analyze, general design, detailed design, schematic design, PCB design and debugging, and so on. At last, the module has good performance overall and totally meet the requirements. The main contents of this paper are organized as below:1. Introduce the origin of the task and the meaning of the research.2. The whole design scheme of the broadband RF synthesizer is introduced. Through theoretical analysis and calculation, get the wideband RF synthesizer requirements and choose phase-locked loop synthesizer as the module implementation. Key technologies including selection of reference source, loop filter design, power control, and harmonic control section are analyzed. Detailed design is implemented and simulation is finished to validate the design.3. Accomplish the design and realization of the PCB module. Analyze the problems in the PCB design and debug the circuit. At last, the synthesizer module reaches the design goals.4. The experience in the progress of project development is summarized at the end part of this thesis.
