With the vigorous development of the Internet, especially the rise of Mobile Internet, P2P technology is becoming more and more popular. A variety of P2P-based applications, such as File sharing, Instant messaging, Streamig, distributed computing program, are widely used. VoIP as a relatively new service has been widely used too. P2P VoIP uses P2P technology to achieve VoIP, makes full use of the advantages of VoIP and P2P technology, and distributed manages user data, full use of Network and user resources to solve the server bottleneck problem.However, the traditional approach just rely on best-effort transmission in IP networks, there is no guarantee of quality of service, there is packet loss, disorder packet arrival, delay, jitter, etc., especially in IP networks, jitter becomes a serious impact on VoIP quality. In addition, the large number of Internet end-users is located behind the NAT, which takes a lot challenges to the applications of P2P. NAT traversal technology should be used to achieve the user's E2E media delivery.To address the issue of jitter in VoIP, jitter buffer is commonly used. However, jitter buffer can only eliminate part of the jitter problem and increase the user's end to end delay. Some new overlay network routing techniques are proposed to eliminate the IP network delay jitter through multi-path routing. This paper mainly studies the overlay network relay node selection algorithm, which can optimize the user side media transmission, and eliminate the network delay jitter, resolve NAT traversal issues and improve end to end QoS and the user experience.A lot of simulations, testing on relay selection algorithms have been done in NS2 and the PlanetLab simulation environment, which can provide some scientific basis on relay node selection algorithm design and applications. Finaly, we research and design a multimeidia traffic optimization solution of relay-based IMS, which can provide a good platform for relay node selection algorithms.
