Study Of Highway Overspeed Vehicle Warning System

With the development of the national economy, the traffic mileage of highway, sizes and scales of motor vehicles are experiencing a substantially increasement. Enhancing the level of highway service, assorting with and inducing traffic to protect the safety of drivers and passengers, reducing the accident rate become a urgent affair. Setting up speeding alert system and supplying the drivers with warning signs in the accident-prone road section can let drivers slow down ahead of time to avoid traffic accident that caused by overspeeding. The intelligent real-time traffic monitoring is significant to traffic information collection, standardization of traffic management and traffic accidents decrease and so on.In this paper, it studies the composition of vehicle speed warning system and work flow and expataites the principles and methods that measuring the speed with the radar and video; uses radar to measuring the preliminary speeding and then locates the vehicle using the video image processing, captures images of vehicles which is overspeeding, automatic identificats the number plate, plate type and records these information; uses communications technology to display warning messages with remote message board.By studying the vehicle detection and license plate recognition problems,it uses the video measuring method to solve the vehicle license plate recognition and identification of target location errors. From the video image processing basis,it studies the initial processing of video images, license plate recognition, license plate extraction and character segmentation; extracting the speeding vehicle license plate, processing the region using characters of the segmentation; and then in-depth study of the neural network algorithm,its development, using the BP neural network algorithm to recognize the vehicle license plate and accurate identificat of speeding vehicles.It uses speeding alert system to alert the vehicles which are overspeeding so that it can effectively focus on all sections of the vehicle on highway and give early warnings.
