There is a growing requirement for the capacity of 3D graphics processing based on mobile device. With the rising requirement for realistic, the amount of data of 3D model growing exponentially, while the mobile device storage space is limited, it is necessary to implement the encoding and decoding functions of 3D models on mobile devices.We give a detail analysis of the MPEG-4 3DMC codec algorithm in this artical, which based on the characteristics of mobile device.We transplant the decoding algorithm to FPGA which based on the PowerPC core, and then we use fixed-point output data in order to optimize it. Our work and features following by:1) After depth research and analysis of static mesh codec technology, we achieved 3DMC decoding algorithm on the PC, and transplant the decoding algorithm to mobile devices based on PowerPC processor. We achieved 3DMC decoding function on mobile device based on the characteristics of mobile device. The results of decoding show that mobile device and PC are completely consistent.2) For the requirement of low power for mobile device, we fix the decoding algorithm in order to optimization. After Experimental simulation and statistical analysis, the display does not affect the premise of optimal performance as much as possible, eventually we get the fixed-point method for vertex coordinates, normal vectors and the vertex color of three-dimensional model data. Compared with single-precision floating-point operation, fixed-point optimization can save about 17 percent of the chip power consumption.3) For the purpose of decode and display 3D graphics on mobile device, proposed integrate general-purpose processor core and dedicated graphics acceleration engine of Heterogeneous multi-core SOC FPGA verification platform.We achieve the decoding and rendering of 3D model, for 3D graphics for mobile devices This artical provides an experimental platform based on FPGA. The verification show that our system can decoding and rendering display of 3D model correctly on FPGA Platform. 4) Encoding and decoding of dynamic 3D mesh model has a high barrier.There is lack of information and related technology about dynamic 3D mesh model.We give a detail analyze of the dynamic 3D mesh compression principle and implementation method , and we also give the details of MPEG-4 FAMC implement process for further research of implement encoding and decoding function of dynamic 3D mesh.
