Fieldbus technology is widely engaged in the various fields of industrial production currently. Following the industrial control system's evolution for the network access control, this industry pays great attention to the industrial Ethernet for its connection between fieldbus technology and business Ethernet. This paper designs a remote control system for the ControlLogix based on the NetLinx architecture. This remote control system provides remote access which accords to the trend and is also applied for the teaching experiment.The remote control system consists of three major components: industrial equipments,server and clients. The industrial equipments, based on the NetLinx architecture, are experimental water tank, distillation column and boiler.The server computer adopts Linux as its operation system and is able to provide services such as VPN, RADIUS, MySQL, Apache and MJPG-streamer. VPN provides the connection between clients and instructions. RADIUS affords user authentication and account management and the status of instrument could be observed through real time stream video provided by the server.The clients'computer adopts Windows XP as its operation system. They are installed with VPN client, RSLogix5000, RSLinx and RSVIew32. The VPN client and its counterpart in server build the virtual private connection. The client can control equipments through application developed by RSView32 or upload the program to ControlLogix or download from it. The status of instrument could be observed through real time stream video provided by the server.The experiment shows that the system runs stably, responses fast and used friendly and this remote control system is the application of the Network Control Laboratory project in the University of Science and Technology of China.
