On Science Communication Of Journal The Chinese Serial

The Chinese Serial, as the first magazine founded in China, is a new starting point for the missionary to broadcast China in characters. The release of it at that time was well known in the field and very precious.The content of this press covered politics, economy, culture, history, science and technology, current affairs and other subjects. It also had the introduction of scientific knowledge, such as, geography, astronomy, physics, geology, medicine and etc.From the perspective of science communication, this paper tries to explore the results on science communication based on the analysis on The Chinese Serial, which has the prestige of a number of "firsts".This paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is a brief introduction of The Chinese Serial, i.e., the publishing, releasing, editors and cooperators; the second chapter is an analysis on historical status of The Chinese Serial, that is to say, through the analysis on its historical period for missionaries to run this newspaper, to think about the question of cultural exchange and culture invasion; chapter three emphasizes the classification and summary on natural science involved in this periodical, the comparison between science contents on The Chinese Serial and the development state of the discipline at that time, and discussion on its match degree in the development of this field; the fourth chapter tries to analyze the situation of science communication and explore the results of The Chinese Serial.
