Geospatial literacy is the central content of geographical literacy, having unique value to both learners'all-round development and life-long development.for a long time, the cultivation of learner's geospatial literacy has not been taken seriously, due to the hardware and software limitations, there has been rarely applied modern information technology to enhance the learner's geospatial literacy in the classroom. Google Maps is a WebGIS services launched by Google, GIS data and the map service platform is bundled, and is free of charge to users, then reduced the difficulties in development and application of GIS (geographic information system), so as to provided technical support to help build a immersive, interactive, real-time learning environment in geography teaching. The application of Google Maps in geography teaching can enhance the interest of learners, helping learners build a better concept of geographical space, training the geospatial literacy of the learners, while also promoting the teaching of geography and the technology in geography.This article discussed the advantages of Google Maps and the feasibility of application into geography teaching, and then developed two systems as an aid in geography teaching. Finally, some analysis and recommendations will be made on the difficulties and problems in the application of Google Maps into geography teaching. |
