With the development of internet and wireless technologies. More and more subscribers begin to use mobile communication terminals to access internet. Combining wireless technologies and IPv6 becomes a hot point in current research. Moving within a subnet, mobile node (MN) can work properly without any negative effect. While moving between different subnets, there is a negative effect on MN. At this moment, handoff latency will happen, there is a blackout time during this period. It is unacceptable for some real-time applications. This is the reason why I choose this subject. In this paper, based on the study and analysis of existing mobile IPv6 handoff technology, I can find HMIPv6 increased MN's binding rate in micro MAP, with the help of MAP. So it decreased the handoff latency. Because of link layer prediction mechanism, FMIPv6 can complete the configuration of care-of address before MN leave the previous access. In this way, it can decrease handoff latency. FHMIPv6 is formed by combined HMIPv6 and FMIPv6, it use HMIPv6's hierarchical structure to further reduce FMIPv6 handoff latency. Therefore, FHMIPv6 is smallest in handoff latency, but it is complicated. I use network simulation tool NS2, set the operating environment and complete the handoff procedure of FHMIPv6, and compare it with HMIPv6 and FMIPv6 on end to end delay, handoff delay, throughput, packet loss rate. Draw conclusions from experiment, FHMIPv6 performance is best in all aspects, HMIPv6 is better than FMIPv6 in case of end to end delay, several aspects of the rest of the performance worse than FMIPv6.Despite FHMIPv6 improved performance, it improve small. So, To consider between complexity and handoff improvement. It will be the key work in the future research work.
