| Along with the development of computer technology and the expansion of global company, it is the trend to implement overall information technology in the business. Due to the company requirement and historical reason we have formed the situation of different department has their own information system. Meanwhile, due to the needs of new information system and the needs of business growth, the old system was continuously upgarded by new version system with enhanced functions. Since the IT system structure upgraded from two layers to three layers as well as developed from Client/Server to Browser/Server we have to face a new challenge of data migration.The thesis is written by taking a practice of Rogers Suzhou company ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) data migration project. Data environment is based on current two database platforms Oracle & SQL and system environment is based on two ERP systems Peoplesoft and QAD. During one year we have analyzed business data process, researched complex data model, made a detailed migration plan and used powerful migration tools to complete the upgrade and data migration successfully. We have also rolled out many new funcations and data processes to achieve win-win result between the company and customers. Through the implementation of data migration project I learnt more experience which will be benefit for future similar practice and will give the direction on how to optimize the progress of data migration for compex ERP data system.The thesis has briefly described the development of ERP system, introduced the research of database model instances, defined the approach and design of data migration for complex database model, and demonstrated the proecss of data migration, reached the goal of data sharing, data manipulation, centeral management and system integration. |
