With the development of computer technology, semiconductor technology and micro- electronics technology, embeded system applied in automotive dashboards introduces more advanced technologies, just as network communication, intelligent control. Therefore, forms a full digital intelligent dashboards which combines with measurement, communica- tions, display and control functions. According to the requirements of low power consumption, low cost, high performance, this thesis will combinesμClinux operating system with microprocessor LPC2478 to implement an embedded core control platform for automotive dashboards.μClinux operating system running on microcontroller, has many advantages, such as its open source, good portability, power network function. Furthermore, as the version's upgrading and improvement of real-time performance,μClinux has been ported to most 32-bit processors. LPC2478 from NXP corporation is an 32-bit ARM processor with low power consumption, high performance, wide working temperature range. Due to little discussions about embeddedμClinux system about LPC2478 in domestic, this paper has certain practical significances for the other embeddedμClinux systems in addition to the value of engineering application.From the applied angle, this paper first, studys the features ofμClinux operating system as well as its application on LPC chips. Second, according to LPC2478 hardware features, studies the overall design scheme disign of hardware platform and how to control the peripheral devices. Third, more attention are paid to the porting of U-Boot, the cutting and modification ofμClinux operation system and the methods of developping device drivers and application program underμClinux. Finally, the results proves that U-Boot andμClinux are able to run stably on this platform by testing.
