In recent years, with the rise of citizen journalism in the media context, public events driven and supervised by the net opinion spring up:"Chongqing nail household","the Xiamen PX Project","faked photo of the south China tiger"and"hide and seek". These well-known incidents of great significance gradually give birth to a special group in China - citizen journalists. As a new type of disseminator in a rapid transforming society and network burgeoning era, the emergence of citizen journalists is significant theoreticaly and practicaly. This thesis starts from the concept of citizen journalists, focuses on the theoretical explanation, case study, and comparative study and then makes a thorough view of the background, significance and current situation of Chinese citizen journalists. Afterwards, the transmission modes and features of Chinese citizen journalists are summarized systematicaly and the important issues in its development are discussed deeply. In the end, the development trends are prospected and the related countermeasures and suggestions are given.
