With the development of IT technology, the information transmission of industrial control has become increasingly demanding, therefore, how to get real-time and reliable monitor data has become a pressing issue. The traditional monitor technology has been unable to meet the needs in the areas traversed difficultly. Wireless monitor system has advantages of low-power, high reliability, and self-organization, so it is very suitable for industrial control requirements.This paper describes a RTU solution using HART protocol based on wireless short range network. Considering the low-power and reliability, XBee is used as the wireless communication module, and its responsibility is to establish the wireless data transmission network. We choose AT91SAM7X256 as main controller for RTU. It can realize the HART communication protocol in wireless network by controlling the communication between XBee module and data acquisition module.In order to verify the reliability of HART communication intuitively, ommunication control module is extended UART to communicate with upper-end PC; the chosen microcontroller AT91SAM7X256 embedded A/D module and GPIO, so the data acquisition modules can connect the measuring instruments flexible;μC/OS-II is chosen to be the operating system because of the efficient speed and low cost.The experimental results show that the system runs stably and the communication based on HART protocol is normal. Further more, the design shows its application value and can be improved according to the practical requirements.
