The rapid development of fieldbus technology has brought our country opportunities as well as challenges. As improve of advances in electronic technologies and computer technology, a new type of digital intelligent instrument replaced the traditional analog instruments gradually. At the same time it put forward higher requirements on performance, reliability, accuracy and so on. Nowadays, because of fieldbus standard is in the improvement development stage, and the extensive use of analog instrumentation, the update of devices from analog to smart all-digital demands a long period of time. So we need an intelligent instrument which can adaptation both analog signals and digital communication. HART protocol provides such function.This paper's main task was to design HART Smart Temperature Transmitter with high-precision, multi-function, two-wire system. This transmitter can realize the intelligent functions such as setting parameters, linear compensating, diagnosing, communicating. Using HART communication technology to monitor and administrate transmitter could make it more convenient to use.Based on the analysis of fieldbus and HART protocol, this paper designed HART Smart Temperature Transmitter from hardware and software aspects. Hardware includes connection scheme, chip selection, interface and so on. Software includes software architecture, controlling program, monitoring program, communication program.In the end, the paper gave the transmitter's scheme for connecting, and test the transmitter by software. The result achieved the desired targets.
