Due to the applications of diversity techniques, Meterwave MIMO radar can improve the performance in direction of arrival (DOA) estimation and target detection for Meterwave radar, and it can also get Meterwave radar's anti-stealth advantages.This paper concentrates on the DOA estimation problem in Meterwave MIMO radar system. Firstly, this paper introduces three typical algorithms for DOA estimation: Capon algorithm, MUSIC algorithm and Maximum Likelihood algorithm. The simulation shows that the MIMO radar's performance in DOA estimation is much better than single port array signal processing radar system, and the performance is improved with the increased inter-element spacing. Secondly, based on different array forms, including uniform linear array, oblique circular array and random height circular array, the multipath signal model of MIMO radar was discussed in detail. Considering received multipath and transmitted multipath, the Cramer-Rao Bound (CRB) for bistatic MIMO radar DOA estimation is derived. It shows that the CRB relates with both the steering vectors of transmitted/received arrays and the correlation matrix of transmitted signal. Finally, in the case of low-elevation tracking, the DOA estimation problem is solved by using different methods for arrays in different forms. And these algorithms'advantages and limitations are analyzed by using the simulation results.
