In the increasing competitive electronic industry, common problems that domestic companies have to face are how to adapt to the rapidly changing market, how to shorten the product development cycles and how to improve the product quality. In the field of developmental defects management, enterprises still rely on the semi-manual management stage with a carrier of OFFICE software, which is difficult to conduct and administrate effectively. Defect management has been an obstacle to further improve the developmental quality. The current research is to improve the level of electronic product developmental defects management, enhance the real-time, normative and accurate collection of defect information generated in the product developmental process and achieve the dynamic tracking and processing of defects. Meanwhile, this study will also help administrators in R & D department further analyze the statistical processing of the correlated defects information.This research firstly pointed out the main problems and deficiencies of the current defects management in domestic electronic enterprises with the abundant investigation and in-dept analysis. Secondly, combining the optimization of key elements in workflow technology with the core reconstructed defect tracking process, this study designed a set of complete solutions on the defects management information on the basis of process management. Along with the ongoing developmental process, this set of solutions would reasonably organize and administer the defects information to achieve the tracking management of defects reporting, repairing and verifying and standardize the circulation between the collecting and processing of the product developmental defects information. In addition, with the Primeton EOS platform and its workflow engine, the component-oriented development approach was used in this study to design and develop the defect tracking and administering workflow information system of the domestic electronic product R & D. This system has been tried in the electronic enterprises of Guangzhou, Zhejiang and Shenzhen successively.
