Due to the rapid development of three-dimensional modeling techniques and Internet techniques, Content-based 3D model retrieval technology has become to be a hotspot.3D models'representation not only determines the display of 3D models, but also be the foundation of 3D model retrieval technology. Through the study of the conversion technology of 3D models'representation, the local feature of 3D model and the custom storage format of 3D model, this paper achieve the goals that enhancing the reuse and sharing of 3D models, and improving the efficiency of 3D model retrieval. This paper studies at the content and the results summarized as follows:1. Implement an integrating approach for approximating an unorganized set of scattered points over a piecewise smooth surface by a triangle mesh. The method is based on the Garland-Heckbert local quadric error minimization strategy. Through building the adaptive spherical cover and computing the auxiliary point, make the meshes reconstruction, denoising and simplification be an integrating approach, greatly reduces workload of meshing scattered point data.2. Propose a packet positioning binary voxelization method, resolve the defects of ordinary binary voxelization methods, such as computing overload, resulting noise too heavy. The ordinary binary voxelization can not accurately represent the importance of voxel unit, so we propose a mind of gray-scale voxelization to enrich the information of voxel unit.3. Improve a 3D model retrieval method based on the local distinctive region feature which can improve the retrieval effectiveness. Analyze the influence of models' representation for feature extraction and retrieval effectiveness, such as the spherical harmonic feature of polygonal mesh models and voxel models. 4. Development a custom common storage form for 3D models. By analyzing mainstream 3D model storage forms'advantage and disadvantage, such as 3DS, OBJ and OFF, propose a custom common storage form, reach the purpose of improving the reuse and sharing of three-dimensional models.This paper is supported by National High Technology Research and Development Program(863 Program No.2008AA01Z301) of China.
