In Video Grid there are massive video files and users, so that how to schedule and store these video files effectively and provide high quality service to the users is an important subject.The strip-shaped storage mechanism based on the self-adaptive popular degree is put forword according to CDN(Content Distribute Network) technology and P2P (P eer to Peer,P2P) technology at this paper. In this mechanism, every video file is divided into some video blocks which has the same volume. The whole video blocks in hot video files and parts of video blocks in second hot video files are stored in local server, so the video file number has been increased by storage with video blocks.The video grid system takes different scheduling strategies according to the video files with different popular degrees.sthe users who apply for video files with hot degree could share the video files among them by using P2P technology. If users apply for video files with second hot degree, local server will support the video blocks which have been stored in local server to them. if 5 minutes, which is the local server providing the video service to the user with has been passed, the system will download the relevant video blocks from other servers which is according to the rule of loading balancing, these video block will been combined with the video blocks stored in local server into a whole video files to provide to users. The video blocks downloaded will stored in local server temporarily, so it could provide a whole video file with second hot degree to the users who apply for this video files in a future time without delay. The scheduling process of second hot degree is done during the full cooperation between backbone and local server.Firstly, the management and scheduling of resources in grid and video grid are introduced briefly. The analysis of the advantages and shortcomings in the mechanism CDN technology and the improved mechanism based on P2P technology about the storage mechanism with video files are shown; Then the character of popular degree of video files in time and space distribution and the inter feature of popular degree of video file are introduced in this paper. The strip-shaped storage mechanism based on the self-adaptive popular degree which is combined with the scheduling and storing mechanism in CDN technology and the improved mechanism based on P2P technology is put forword. Then its mechanism about storage,scheduling and updating are described in detail.At the end of this paper, there is the simulation process. The scheduling and storing mechanism based on CDN technology and the strip-shaped storage mechanism based on self-adaptive popular degree are simulated by VGSim(Video Grid Simulator). Compared with the backbone loads and the number of the video files stored in local server in the two mechanisms, the results shows there are more video files in local server with same volume in the strip-shaped storage mechanism based on self-adaptive popular degree, at the same time the backbone loads don't been raised obviously so the room of the local server is used more fully in the strip-shaped storage mechanism based on self-adaptive popular degree. The cluster tool-Hadoop is in first creation to build a simple video grid to simulate the the strip-shaped storage mechanism based on self-adaptive hot degree. The results show local server could provide fluent video service based on the video files with hot degree and second hot degree to users.
