Application Study Of Grid Systems In Graphic Design

Grid problem is a question of arranging space reference frame substantially. As in our cosmic, space and time couldn't be seen or touch, but they are really existent. If not, the whole universe would no more exist. Sometimes although the structure systems we used in design is not generally recognized vertical and horizontal partitioning, but other so open patterns, as a space arranging pattern, the nature of gird systems is also identical. Grid system is a space base of making a design work to be established, it is a skeleton of design work. Although we didn't aware of it, we have already use grid system in our design automatically.Chinese square Structure, and feature of strokes writing connection are totally different with Latin alphabet. It is not suitable to use west grid in Chinese editorial design indiscriminately. On the basis of Chinese characters'structural characteristics, according to Latin horizontal grid system, we try to research a kind of simple and practical vertical grid system pattern which is suitable for Chinese itself.For vanity characteristic of our time, modern viewers are increasing lack of patience. Classic format of a design work is difficult to capture viewers'eyes. Traditional narrow concept of grid has new changes. As American design expert Elam.K summed up, such as axial, transitional, bilateral, radial and soon on, systems. These structural frameworks with new names are still evolving on the base of traditional grid systems. In a sense, they are still part of the grid systems concept category.And in New Media arts, dynamic grid involved more many aspects. In the course of appreciating two-dimensional graphic design work, the multidimensional space mentality feeling in audiences'mind, turn into a true sense of virtual four-dimensional space. Now, besides visual experience, we also add some sound effects in video artworks. Grid concept has been extended to unprecedented wild fields in new media, the problems need to be solved by designers, have become unprecedentedly challenging.In modern design works, the use of mix-media is more and more frequently. Although in traditional two-dimensional design work, we need to demonstrate a kind of four-dimensional dynamics experience. Space limitations in graphic design have been more and more broken. The spatiality concept of grid in ancient Indian philosophy book is surprisingly consistent with the dynamic space grid concept in new media age. Grid thinking which discovered and developed by ancient Indians has a great possibility to rejuvenate on the digital media. Integration of eastern and western culture, combining deep foundation of ancient oriental cultural with the power of western modern technology, we will find the future of development direction of design.
