Presently,implanted antenna inside human body applied in medical devices are widely used, the capacity of the antenna will determine the reliability and safety of the medical devices. Therefore, design and testing of implanted antenna is essential. In order to simulate and evaluate the capacity of the implanted antenna,antenna design and human modeling are key and prerequisite to solve this problem.The finite-different time-domain(FDTD)method is applied to characterize and design the implanted antennas for communication with medical devices in the 402-405MHz Medical Implanted Communication Services band approved by the Federal Communication Commission(FCC). Based on many documents, two types of low-profile antennas,i.e., spiral microstrip antenna and planar inverted-F antenna, with superstrate dielectric layers are designed for medical devices implanted in the chest of human body using FDTD simulations. XFDTD software is applied to measure the input impedance,S11-parameter,normalized horizontal far-field patterns and horizontal 1-g averaged SAR distribution of the implanted antennas.In this paper, another aspect of the content is to measure the radiation characteristic and horizontal 1-g averaged SAR distribution of dipole antenna implanted in human head model. An simple six-layer head model with 2mm resolving rate and Zubal human model with 4mm resolving rate are built, and compared to measure the results of different location of the antenna in one same model.And finally calculate the characterization of the communication link between the implanted antenna in the human model and the external antenna, The maximum delivered power was calculate to evaluate the reliability communication between the implanted antenna and exterior medical devices, and got that about the communication between the dipole antennas,the external antenna can get a better deliverpower as decreasing the distance between the implanted dipole antenna and the center of the head; and got that between the communication between the microstrip antenna and external antenna, PIFA antennas has advantage over spiral microstrip antenna with small size, higher radiation power.
