The traditional single-pulse and differential angle-measuring method, based on bugle antenna, have the advantages of high precision and simple achievement, but its hard to be directly applied to phased array antenna for achieving multi-targets angle estimation.In the application of military and civil areas, it is particularly urgent of more extensive research in multi-targets sum-difference (Σ-Δ) angle measurement method and implementation based on phased array antenna. Therefore, based on the introduction of the traditional single-pulseΣ-Δfor direction of arrival (DOA) estimation, three methods applied in the phased array antenna are given, i.e. symmetric invert method, window method, dual-pointing method. By computer simulation, similarities and differences of these methods are analyze on the slope of differentiate angle curve, the range of angle measured and complexity of implementation. On this basis, two-dimensional angle measurement, which has five targets, has been implemented by FPGA, including digital orthogonal difference, regulate errors of amplitude and phase in the channel, andΣ-Δbeamforming modules. Measured data confirm the effectiveness of the method.
