The vehicle holding video system has been applied in many fields. To fit the different requirement in different application field, the vehicle holding video systems have more and more ability. The traditional vehicle holding video system just stores the video message about the surroundings, and the video data processing and analysis are later work. This kind of video system can't be applied in the field which requires real time data. As development of the computer processing capability and embedded multi-media technology, it's possible to process video data in real time. The choke point of vehicle holding video process system is how to transfer large amount of video data to the video process platform. The exist standard bus technology can provide the capacity to transfer data in high speed, but there's no upper-layer communication protocol associated with it. An upper-layer communication protocol, which fit the system requirement, is needed. Although common communication protocols have embedded on some embedded devices, the physical transfer device, on which the protocol is lied, can't provide enough bandwidth. As the result, the developer should design the upper-layer protocol according to system requirement, associated with the bus technology, to achieve the system function.The main jobs of this paper include the following part.(1) The paper introduces the present situation of vehicle holding video system and embedded multi-media technology, and provides a method to deal with the problem, which is how to transfer data in high speed using embedded multimedia technology and bus technology.(2) The paper puts forward the communication framework and protocol on the basis of the video system structure and requirement. Reference standard transmission protocol, the paper provides the communication process according to the system requirement. To ensure the timeliness and reliability of video data, the paper also provides a method to packet data frame.(3) The paper introduces the method to fulfill the Low-layer PCI bus transfer. The PCI bus driver is designed for VxWorks operation system.
