High-speed clock signal source is the key equipment in optical communications, in particular, high-speed optical time division multiplexing system, how to get high-speed signal source is the focus of this paper. There are two key factors in getting high-speed optical signal source:First, the occurrence of short pulses, the second is the rate doubled. The focus of this paper is to get the optical pulse differential and have it doubled on the basis of existing 2.5Gb/s optical signal sources in our laboratory.Currently, the main way to get high-speed optical signal source is to use pulse compression and a combination of mode-locked lasers, while polarization sensitive SOA application may be optimized for this program. Semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) polarization effect has drawn more and more attention from people. With the technology of time division multiplexing, the low-rate short-pulse will be doubled into high-speed signal source.Firstly, by searching documents I got a deeper understanding of the polarization effects, then I designed a compression polarization controller which achieved effective control of the polarization state, without additional optical process to the system. Built experimental light path on the same and different direction and identified the final plan by analyzing the advantages and disadvantages from the result. At last, I assembled a complete prototype of the signal source to further improve the differential performance, and made the analysis of experimental results.
