With the development of computer technology, virtual reality technology is becoming related to other disciplines increasingly, and the research of virtual reality technology in experimental model has been being the focus. Virtual experiment system is a informationalized, networked virtual environment which integrates all kinds of development tools and technique. It has good prospects and development potential, and virtual experimental studies indicate the direction of virtual reality. With the development of virtual reality technology and system simulation, process simulation system and 2D virtual experiment system can not satisfy the user pursuit of immersion and interaction on simulation software, so the high-interactive,3D immersed virtual laboratory has become a hot topic.This paper studies the design and development of virtual distillation experiment system. Through the construction of plate column distillation experiment and packed column distillation experiment,3D simulation of operational control on distillation separation process is achieved. The virtual distillation experiment system is a based on Virtools, guided on virtual character, whole scene, open, high-interactive,3D immersed software. On distillation column is studied, through the modules, the key technology and the 3D immersion enhancing is researched and designed, a separation prediction model based on distillation theory is constructed, and the fitting datas are received with Aspen. Using the programming realized the regulation of the variable parameters of the model through the real-time interactive operation, and simulated the composition and temperature distribution along the column. The software has multiple functions, such as material selections, multi-parameter adjustments, monitoring to evaluation and chromatography, simulated the whole process of the distillation separation and product detection completely.This virtual distillation experiment system has strong immersion, complete function, high interaction and so on. The open architecture is propitious to upgrade the experimental content and experimental materials. It has some practical significance to analyse and compare different separation, design and optimize operations, research plot. In addition, its excellent cost-effectiveness has advantages to make up for lack of experimental teaching., and make it the bridge for linking theory and practice. At the same time, helpful experience is got for future virtual lab's development.
