As the number and type of university instruments increased, with sophistication and value enhanced, instrument management methods and modes are undergoing profound changes. Traditional instrumentmanagement, which relies solely on artificial or instrument management system based on client/server architecture, can not meet the university teaching and research instrument management requirements. For the problems in university instrument maintenance management, such as repeat purchasing, purchase of non-used instrument, and instrument leaving unused, my thesis designs and develops a management system for university instrument, including acquisition, testing, maintenance and scrapping by making use of computer technology, information technology,Among the current web application development technologies, JSP technology of good system compatibility is selected, based on J2EE platform, combined with Servlet, Javabeans, JDBC technology to build B / S architecture, which consist of three layers: client layer, business logic layer and data layer. The client layer and business logic layer is design and developed by using the Struts framework of MVC model. JSP combined with JavaScript, StrutsTaglib is used for front interface design of system. Actionform and Action constitute the main the model of business logic layer. The controller is consists of ActionMapping and ActionServlet.According to the needs of university instruments management, combined with instruments life-cycle theory, instruments maintenance management system is divided into six function modules, purchase management, maintenance management, test management, obsolescence management, the role of rights management, user and department management.Through the time series analysis of main function modules, submit, approval, implementation, and registration of work orders in equipment purchase, maintenance, test, obsolescence and other maintenance aspects is determined as the main mode of instrument management information system.Users of system is divided into two roles, department administrators and university administrator. The department administrator is responsible for the instrument management of its department, including instrument purchase application and registration, maintenance application and registration, test application and registration, obsolescence application and registration. The application can be modified and removed before approval. University administrator is responsible for the management of all the instruments, including the approval of purchase, test, maintenance, and obsolescence applications submitted by department administrator. Meanwhile user and department management is executed by university adminstrator. As the different roles have different access rights, the role-based access control is used to control permissions to user roles.Database design is divided into conceptual design, logical design, and physical design stages. In conceptual design, E-R model is utilized to define the user, instrument, department and other entities, their characteristics and relationship among them. In logical design, according to the system application service logic, database of information is divided into three categories: maintenance and management class, user and department management class, the role of rights management class, including a total of 13 information tables. The logical relationships among information tables are also defined in this phase. In physical design, the composition of the various information tables, data types, storage path choice are defined in detail by taking advantage of SQL Server 2000. The interface of data layer and business logic layer is realized through JDBC technology. Finally, the main function of this system is tested. The results show that the design and development of maintenance management system achieves the information storage and records of all aspects involved in the processes of instrument purchase, maintenance, test, and obsolescence. But the overall performance is still not perfect. The proposed changes and development of the next step can make use of Hibernate technology to lightweight JDBC object package, so as to simplify the work of data persistence layer, and increase system scalability.
