Mo Youzhi is a famous bibliographer in Qing dynasty. To study his achievement in Bibliography has an important practical significance to our research and collation of Chinese ancient books today. Records of Books Carved in Song and Yuan Dynasty is not only one of Mo Youzhi's magnum opus in Bibliography, which embodies his achievements in Bibliography, but also contains a very rich collection of historical materials and great historical value.This paper studies Records of Books Carved in Song and Yuan Dynasty mainly from three aspects. First of all, Mo Youzhi was good at identifying versions. When he recorded the ancient books, he always did lots of identify work, so we can learn his methods and experiences in identifying various versions. Secondly, Records of Books Carved in Song and Yuan Dynasty appeared comparatively earlier as a bibliography which recorded rare ancient books seen by the bibliographer himself. The books it recorded are rare ancient books and the characters as cultural relics. This book influences later bibliographers such as Wang Wenjin and Fu Zengxiang. In addition, Records of Books Carved in Song and Yuan Dynasty and Records of Books in Chijingzhai, Bibliography of Books Known or Seen by Lvting has a complementary relationship. We can enrich these three bibliography by comparing one item by one item. Finally, this book involves more than seventy bibliophiles from Yuan dynasty to Qing dynasty and so we can enrich their activities.This paper mainly includes three sections:First, Mo Youzhi's life and writings. In this section, I will introduce Mo Youzhi's life, family, friends and writings. Second, the writing and editing progress and the contents of Records of Books Carved in Song and Yuan Dynasty. This section describes the compilation process, circulation situation and the main contents. The contents of each volume is introduced generally. Finally, the academic value of Records of Books Carved in Song and Yuan Dynasty. This section is the main part of this paper, including the introduction of bibliographical value and historical value of this book. The conclusion is a overall evaluation of Mo Youzhi's Bibliographical achievements and the academic value of Records of Books Carved in Song and Yuan Dynasty.
