The Current Situation And Challenge Of Unexpected Event Report Of Southern Metropolis Daily

In 1995, Southern Metropolis Daily was founded, and was officially changed as daily newspaper in 1997. Facing the competition in Guangzhou, the Southern Metropolis Daily survived difficultly. In order to survive, the report style of Southern Metropolis Daily newspaper was not elegant. After experiencing many difficulties, Southern Metropolis Daily plays an important role in the Chinese metropolis dailies. When other media also tried to make unexpected event reported well, Southern Metropolis Daily was on the front as a member of the traditional media. Southern Metropolis Daily insisted on the Journalism ideals.And the reports were objective. These impressions were left in people's hearts.And also in the process of transformation of this newspaper, the great changes of unexpected event report, have occurred. The characteristics of unexpected event report in Southern Metropolis Daily are analyzed by qualitative and quantitative methods in this paper, which are more planning, fewer classical reports in the past and more public opinion, individual interest and description of story at the present. Undoubtedly, there are many classic unexpected event report cases which other media thronged to learn.However, with the relaxation of unexpected event report policy, the competition among the media and the outbreak of financial crisis in 2008, unexpected event reports of Southern Metropolis Daily with higher Marketization characteristic experienced many difficulties such as less exclusive news, less coverage page and so on. How to get rid of these difficulties? Many countermeasures are given in this paper, which are using streaming media technology to reform current report approaches, making their voices heard to eliminate the irrational public opinion caused by the network, achieving cross-regional newspaper, and broadening the role of the call centers. This paper uses the qualitative and quantitative methods to analyse the characteristics of unexpected event report in Southern Metropolis Daily, and describes its current situation. Then, the paper illustrates the challenges which unexpected event reports of Southern Metropolis Daily are facing. Finally, several proposals on its development in future are put forward. Among them, using quantitative method to analyse the characteristics of unexpected event report in Southern Metropolis Daily since 2002, and providing proposes about future development of unexpected event reports are the thesis focuses.For the study of the unexpected event report of Southern Metropolis Daily, I hope that my thesis could provide some references for other media.
