With the continuous development of computer technology, component-based software development is getting more and more mature. Logging-oriented technology has achieved computerization and visualization. Logging-oriented technology is the core technology of oil drilling domain. The basic vector graphics is the core and essential element of Mudlogging Geosteering System (MGS). Presently, the software systems of domestic oil drilling domain are complex and distributed. Compared to foreign software systems, MGS is less developed both in function and development mode and the system has poor general, poor reusability and poor extensibility. The basic vector graphics of the oil drilling domain is the most complex section in developing MGS. How to develop a reusable basic vector graphics of oil drilling domain is a crucial problem, which can save development costs, short development cycles and increase system efficiency.Firstly, the development status of software system in oil drilling domain and the development of MGS are analyzed in this paper. Secondly, the problems and defects of MGS are pointed out. Aiming at these problems, the development feasibility of the basic vector graphics components in the oil drilling domain is analyzed. The ideas, methods and procedures of component-based software development are introduced. The idea and development mode of domain engineering are introduced too. The basic vector graphics components in oil drilling domain are developed by component-based software development in this paper. The drawing method of graphics, the specification of component interfaces and the vector method of graphics are described in detail. At last, the component repository for all graphics components is developed and applied in MGS which enhances the reusability of graphics components.The basic vector graphics components implement the graphics of data in oil drilling domain which can provide a visualize logging process for all drilling teams. It is important significance for the software development of oil drilling domain in the future.
