With the rapid development of information technology, industrial control system has entered the network, intelligent times. Wireless network technologies developing mature and beginning to enter the field of industrial automation, makes the investment costs and the use of cost of industrial control system reduction. In this context, the use of wireless communication technology for device communication in industrial field control network is increasing worldwide.WIA-PA (Wireless Networks for Industrial Automation-Process Automation) is a wireless measurement and control of industrial control networks developed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Southwest University, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications and more than 10 units. This project is supported by the National High Technology development 863 Program of China (863 Program). WIA-PA is an industrial process automation wireless network used for monitoring industrial process and control network, which is a self-owned intellectual property with high reliability and ultra-low power consumption. WIA-PA network provides a self-organizing, self-cured and intelligence mesh routing mechanism, which can maintain high reliability and strong stability aiming at the dynamic change of application conditions and environment. WIA-PA wireless technology enables users to reduce the cost of investment and make use of WIA-PA in industry process to achieve a comprehensive monitoring and access some important parameters of industrial process as the basis for optimal control, improving product quality and implementing energy saving goals. It is mainly used industrial application, building automation, energy management, asset management and environment monitoring. It is developing rapidly in recent years. It often runs in which people can't be close to, even in remotely dangerous environment, where the nodes survive with the limited battery energy. However, the substantial increase in battery capacity is more difficult to achieve, energy conservation studies of WIA-PA network becomes very important significance.Routing technology is the key technology to WIA-PA network, and also is one of the most important factors which affect the overall performance of the network. The current routing algorithms, such as AODV, DSR etc., can not be fully applicable to the WIA-PA network. We must design the routing algorithm for WIA-PA network. Based on the analysis of existing routing technology, this paper proposes a program of protecting low-energy nodes based on AODV.First, this paper introduces the WIA-PA network characteristics, application areas, technical difficulties, study significance and my work, analyses several typical routing algorithm in Ad Hoc network, compares their advantages and disadvantages, and presents the future research direction for WIA-PA routing algorithm and energy-efficient routing strategy. Secondly, based on the deficiencies which AODV applies to WIA-PA network, this paper presents its improved routing algorithm-ES-AODV (Energy-Saving AODV for WIA-PA) algorithm. The improved algorithm routing strategy is based on energy hierarchical strategy and the average residual energy of network. According to the new routing strategy, the path of higher energy will be selected to forwarding data. At the same time, it improves the HELLO mechanism, extends the sending period, reduces the number of the HELLO message packets, and saves the energy of the node for WIA-PA network. Finally, this paper introduces the NS-2 simulation process and the scene. Then compares and analyzes the network performance with AODV and ES-AODV from the end to end average delay, network lifetime, delivery ratio.From the NS-2 simulation result, compare with AODV algorithm, this algorithm has better performance in energy-saving control. It effectively balances the energy consumption of router in WIA-PA, and achieves an obvious improvement on the network lifetime. In the static network environment, ES-AODV strategy can extend the WIA-PA industrial wireless networks around 5% of the survival time.
