Photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is one of the latest achievements in science and technology in the 20th century,and the research and application of PCF has becomed a hot research field in the world today. Especially in recent years, the research to PCF is extensive in the world and many new theories come out, PCF has been widely applied in optical fiber communication, optical fiber optics, medical examination and other aspects. However, compared to the development of theory, the preparation methods of PCF progress slowly. The article mainly analysis and design the preparation process of PCF.Firstly, the concepts, classification, characteristics and the development of preparation methods, et al of PCF are introduced. Various preparations of PCF are expounded respectively and compare their advantages and disadvantages, the process and production equipment of making PCF by the accumulational method are introduced mainly.Secondly, points out the existing problems and insufficiencies in process of making PCF by the accumulational method. According to these problems, the effects to parameters in the process of controlling were analyzed, and some simple physical devices were designedand were installed in the optical fiber control tower. The influence of prefabrication to PCF was analyses, several ways of making prefabrication were explored, and two devices helping capillaries arrange were designed to improve rate and success of arrangeing capillaries.Finally, a kind of digital control system was designed to realize length shearing and automatic coil two functions. The system is a kind of automatic control system with Siemens S7-200 PLC as main controller, which use hall-effect sensor and pressure transmitter for signal acquisition, use CO2 laser cutting, and use motor driving. Software programming use ladder diagram(LAD) as programming language and make full use of the counter, compared, jump and label instruction during the ladder diagram to realize its control functions., Winding adopts PID closed-loop simulation control among them. The design method and system block diagram are given in the article, includes hardware configuration and software design. Part of the digital is simulated and PID control is simulated, whose results show that the system can operation stably and improve the level of automation of optical fiber control tower.
