Laser has been widely used in a variety of measurement systems, the performances of laser projects (such as laser communications, lidar, laser ranging, etc.) are restricted severely by the effect of atmosphere on laser long-distance transmission. This article aims to study the effects of atmospheric turbulence on laser propagation.Based on the theoretical analyses, the measurement methods of beam expander and drift are demonstrated and the measurement system is improved. The large-diameter transmitting antenna measurement system of laser atmospheric experiments is designed. The expander and drift experiments in the atmospheric turbulence are carried out at different laser focal lengths. The laser transmission experiment of different beam focal lengths is made, using CCD image acquisition system to record laser spot. The spot centroid position is processed by the software and compared with the theoretical results. The cause of the error is analyzed preliminary.
