With the rapid development of science and technology, infrared image processing technology applications are more and more widely, not only in the military, in the gross national product in all aspects of life have broad prospects for development. However, due to restrictions on the development of infrared devices, infrared image imaging has been less than ideal. In order to solve this problem, the infrared images by adding real-time digital signal processing engineering has become an extremely economical and effective mean.This article describes the principle of infrared imaging technology, development status and their own problems. From the practical application, in the existing infrared image processing technology based on the analysis and conclusion as to the characteristics of infrared images as a starting point, designed to study a set of FPGA + DSP-based real-time infrared image processing system suitable for a variety of infrared images real-time processing algorithms are compared and experimental analysis to select the appropriate modular processor algorithm and solve the system's real-time problems, to overcome the low resolution of infrared image, not high constrast, noise ,inhomogeneity nature of defects,and so on.
