Nowadays, with the rapid development of microwave communication technology and optical communication technology, only terahertz band is still the untapped band in communication systems, terahertz penetration characteristics, attenuation characteristics, the bandwidth and other features determine that terahertz wave have a broad application prospect in the confidential communications, inter-satellite communications and indoor local area network communications, etc. In the aspect of system simulation, Liebe microwave propagation model is introduced to simulate the propagation of terahertz wave in all kinds of atomsphere condition in this dissertation. Besides, two path propagation model of terahertz wave is proposed based on scatter theory of terahertz wave on rough surface. In this dissertation, common communication components model of terahertz communication is builded, including terahertz mixer, terahertz antenna, terahertz filter, and so on. Terahertz communication system of Amplitude Shift Keying and Frequency Shift Keying is simulated under terahertz channel, an integrated simulation method of outdoor terahertz communication system is proposed as well as the method to reduce Bit Error Rate. In this dissertation, terahertz communication with wave guide is also studied, novel high birefringent/ large mode area photonic crystal fibers are designed with Finite-Elements Method at first, then rectangular lattice and elliptical air holes are introduced into terahertz band, a high birefringent terahertz photonic crystal fiber is proposed and the birefringence can reach 10-2.
