Ad Hoc network is a self-organizing network and has strong movement of nodes. With the number of nodes increasing, network overhead increases rapidly and the performance decays. Ad Hoc network node location management has become an Ad Hoc network research hot issue as the scalability of current location management strategy in Ad Hoc networks is generally poor. This paper improves algorithm of random direction mobility modeling and proposes a new location management scheme base on anchor, partition forwarding pointers and threshold. By simulations, this scheme is a completely scalable location management scheme, which works well for large-scale mobile Ad Hoc networks.Random Direction model is more stable stochastic model, which is used to overcome the mobile node, select the target node is located in the center of the scope of simulation through the simulation center, or target location probability of a larger problem. On the basis of random direction mobility model, two mobility models that are more suitable for the node mobility characteristics in high-dynamic environment are proposed in this paper, which are via the methods of variable speed and sub-section variable speed. The results of the simulation certificate the algorithm. A novel strategy based on anchor is presented. In such a strategy, the node away from its home region does not need to update the location information to its home region. And it can update the location information to anchor in the vicinity of the region. By analysis, this scheme is a completely scalable location management scheme, which works well for large-scale mobile Ad Hoc networks.Classical location management SLALoM considers the location server region as near and far regions, when location updating and maintaining, nodes need to send location information to many location regions. With the anchor pointers, novel location management scheme cancel the difference between near and far regions. So the number of service regions will be reduced, and the cost of the whole network will be reduced. In the OPNET Modeler simulation, we build the network, node and process mode, collect simulation date including delay and cost. The simulation result can show that the new location management scheme outperform SLALoM and SLURP. In particular, while the number of nodes increases, the location management strategies have been significantly improved. Therefore, it is good scalability for large-scale mobile Ad Hoc networks.
