With the increasing development of mobile communications, the market demands for mobile terminals and its functional requirements are increasing. Mobile terminal Man-machine interface (MMI) is one of the most important software function modules, which reflects the performance of mobile terminal products. The design of the MMI modular has increasingly attracted people attention.In this thesis, the mobile terminals man-machine interface has been studied in-depth. The main work done as follows:First, the MMI software' hardware and software development platform and the architecture of the system has been presented, and then introduced the three key technologies related to the realization of MMI: message-driven mechanisms, window management, and resource management techniques.Second, disigned the MMI system architecture, which involve the framework of MMI layer, GUI layer and application layer. The framework layer is responsible for the message communication and screen management of the system. Bisides this, it make a further abstraction on operating system and file access, which enhanced the portability of the MMI software. The GUI layer interact with the framework for the application layer to provides improved graphical user interface. To simplify the GUI layer's development, it's divided into three subsystems: Warp GUI, UI components and GDI.Finally, one of the important functions of the software - PhoneBook was detailed designed and implemented. The PHB is divided into a kernel module and the search engines, the kernel module is responsible for the PHB functions(add, delete, copy, etc.) and the search engine module for the PHB to support fast retrieval. In this thesis, the basic functions of PHB has been designed and implemented.In this thesis, the quick search feature was studied. We designed and implemented the Quick Search function and increased the search speed. Upon completion of the above work, this paperstudied a string search technology——the TST (Ternary Search Tree) technology, whichcombinated of BST (Binary Search Tree)'s space performance and DST (Digital Search Tree) 's time performance. We studied the use of it into name search to increase the speed of search.In this thesis, we studied the MMI software' development, and designed the applications, which running effect .It also has a certain practical value.
