Invisible Orthodontic Treatment System

Invisible orthodontic treatment is a research hotspot in orthodontics. An invisible orthodontic treatment system uses advanced scanning devices to obtain patients' digital dental models, and outputs the digital model of the treatment appliance by the procedures of tooth segmentation, tooth movement, gum model deformation and attachment installation. The development of invisible orthodontic treatment system requires solving several challenging problems.This thesis develops a practical invisible orthodontic treatment system to satisfy the requirements of clinical application. Our approach uses three-dimensional digital geometry processing algorithms to provide a high accuracy orthodontic treatment. The new tooth movement technique combines interactive operations and semi-automatic tooth movements. Collision detection techniques are also employed to prevent possible collisions during tooth movements. The deformation of gum models improves the emulation of our system and the comfort of the treatment. The installation of attachments makes our system more applicable in clinical operations. Our system can deal with complex cases compared with existing techniques and improves the performance on high precision dental models.
