The Lubricating Grease Patent Database(LGPD)was established that is based on Microsoft ACCESS(MA),which was of function of those databases for retrieval,and could supply structured analysis result, and LGPD had achieved better analysis result for several patents.The lubricating grease is one or more thickening agent dispersed in one or more of liquid lubricants obtained in the semi-solid to solid, with non-Newtonian fluid characteristics of lubricants, commonly known as butter. Until to 2007, the world's total output of grease to reach 1.03 million tons, but the application of the lubricating grease was all over the field from the deep sea into the universe, from official appliances to the metallurgical industry, from the common equipment to the military equipment and other machinery of various types of machinery and equipment.The lubricating grease is not only a wide range of applications, but also chemistry, physics, tribology, fluid dynamics, and so a variety of subject knowledge, is a typical cross-science.It is too difficult for the lubricating grease to research and application which is caused by the complex physical state of the lubricating grease and widely applications and perplexing and information system on the lubricating grease.With the development of computers and networks, improvement of the information quality and quantity, as well as the methods to gain the information comes into a new era. Such changes are too obvious to the science on the lubricating grease, the original information more difficult to check up which are easily find now, the manual search has been to replaced by the computer and the Internet search method. Now through the network, you can easily access to many on the lubricating grease of information.Several limitations about retrieval techniques were given in this paper. Although there were so many retrieval techniques and tools, for example: those may be based on Web, .Net, XML,SQL Server, ACCESS, or Oracle, etc., only structured information which is in patent can be searched or analyzed by these tools, which likes as: how many patents were given by the inventor? Which company these inventors were from? How many patents were in some year? And could abstract of this patent be supplied also; inspectors could not know more by those retrieval existed, like as: what is the main claimed? What is different from older techniques? Which test condition and material were told in Examples/Comparative examples of the patent? Which is the best inverse proportion among materials? And which methods were adopted to resolve the same problem?However, retrieval and structured restore can be done by those structured retrieval database(SRD) ,which is based on WEB, .NET, XML, SQL Server, ACCESS , and Oracle, the process of retrieval and structured restore were based on resource on the web, for example The European Patent Office and The United States Patent and Trademark Office , and State Intellectual Property Office of the P.R.C., the retrieval results would be the same by SRD and by the resource in above webs, and more information downloaded will be limited by those Webs.Of course, there were other methods for patents and other literatures utilized, there was a software as the Note Express, catalogue retrieval, and document downloaded, and whole text database gives that could be done by Note Express, and also input system (like Microsoft Word) established, which convenient for these documents used again. But there is the same limitation, which more deeply analysis could not be carried out.There are so many unstructured and out of order data in the patent, which were in each chapter, and were limited by space and format, that there were three kind of name for one material (for lubricating grease, which can be chemical name, and short name or trademark given by company).Thus, there are so many matters in the patent that the content of the same patent which concerned by each reader is different, and it is difficult for getting good result by data digging and cluster.There are three stages:the first stage is only retrieval, the second stage is retrieval result analysis; and the third stage is, analyzing structured and ordered those documents gained by retrieval; the last stage is given a completely analysis for patents related with correlative literatures.Based on ACCESS, LGPD which is the method for patent and information utilized is belonging to the third stage.By table designed, the information in patent were ordered and structured, and the tables were link according to normal form, which makes contents in tables to image characteristics of patent, after that, essential queries were established, in which is inputted ordered data, the relation among other data will be shown, the methods for query is neatly, which let user of the LGPD do they want, and get better results.There are some commands for data out of EXCEL for LGPD, which can enlarge content of LGPD limited by ACCESS, and that apply more professional management and analysis.The LGPD based on ACCESS has achieved regularity and structural of the collation and data analysis as the dual function to the critical data in the patent, the primarily feature of this database is to this propose for the first time: the contents of the patent such as a data collation and extract the object to regularity and analysis for the database, from this kind of database can get more information, such as different items of the authorities from patents, and the different of the basic composition, and the preparation methods of the lubricating grease, and performance evaluation methods for the lubricating grease from several patents, and different results from composition, that is more important to research and manufacture of the lubricating grease. Furthermore, it is a guideline to the similar area for the use of the patent.After several patents were analyzed, the LGPD can give main content of one patent, and can give inherence relation among patents. LGPD is the new method for patent analyzed.
