Stand tree visualization uses virtual reality technology, which simulates the stand tree information and demonstrates the growing and distribution circumstance of stand tree by image processing method.The paper includes the tree modeling, scene graph organization and optimization. Tree modeling uses the 3DS Max software, we minimize the number of the patches in the situation of satisfy the reality, meanwhile we use the OSGExp export plug-ins embed the OpenSceneGraph node structures into the models, in order to establish the hierarchy models, and in this way it's easy to control the models. We use the XML files to store the stand survey data which includes the basic information of trees, such as diameter at breast, height and so on. We read and parse XML data by the TinyXML tool. In the open source engineer OpenSceneGraph, we organize and optimize the scene graph, using the LOD, Billboard and other optimization methods to improve the rendering frame rate. Seasonal changes are realized by dynamic textures and adjusting the density of branches and leaves. Proved by experiments, the rendering large-scale scenes simulate the tree growing and seasonal changes and it meets the users' real-time interaction.
