With the development of the industry, the storage and transport of liquid are applied widely in all fields. Measuring and monitoring liquid levels are good for keeping the normal liquid level and ensure the safety of the liquid storage and transport.With the rapid development of the science technology and production, a wide variety of measurement methods appear in the field of level automatic detection and their function are more and more perfect. In recent years, taking the microcontroller as the lower computer and the PC as the upper computer, the measuring and controlling technology has been improved and developed. Based on the idea and the construction of three-container tank, the design is aimed to design an intelligent meter to monitor the liquid signal, design the interface of the upper computer to enhance the visibility of the system, realize the communication between the upper and lower computer to monitor the liquid signal and save the data.This design included three parts:the hardware design, the software design and the PC software design. In the hardware, the design selected the AVR microcontroller ATMEGA16 as the lower computer. In the software, the design applied the interrupts of the timer, A/D and the data receiving and transmitting. The design also applied the the state transfer method. In the PC sorftware, the design chose the KingView software of the Ya Kong company to design the interface. The upper and lower computers were linked with the RS485 bus and communicated with the KingView HEX communication driver.Experiments showed that the design realized the measurement and display of the signal and the adjustment of the system parameters, realized the alarm display, the curve report and data storage, realized the communication between the upper and lower computers. The upper computer had good visibility and was easy to use. The design achieved the desire of measuring and monitoring the signal.
