The rapid development of semiconductor laser promotes the development of the solid-state laser materials technology and frequency conversion technology. It is found that the Yb:YAG crystal is more suitable for pump than the Nd:YAG crystal. The Yb:YAG crystal has attracted great attention in the field of all solid-state laser, because it has wider absorption band, longer lifetime and absorption wavelength can match with the wavelength of 940nm semiconductor laser.In this paper, the operation principle of solid-state laser is firstly analyzed, moreover, the pump source of lasers, pump method and common laser crystal are introduced, and the optical properties of Yb:YAG crystal is discussed in particular. Based on the rate-equation of quasi-three-level, the threshold power and the output power are deduced, and calculated the relationship between the optimal output transmittance and output power. Finally, according to the above theoretical analyses, the experiment setup is determined. The output power of 3.85W at 1030nm is achieved, the optical-optical conversion efficiency is 18.4%, applied 940nm LDA side pump Yb:YAG crystal. |
