The relationships of the parts and components are mapped into the relationships of design parameters of product parts and components. The parameter network of product parts and components is established. The quantitative analysis indicators of the parameter network are proposed based on the network theory, algorithms, and especially, the static statistics of the complex network and the centrality research of the social network. The navigation strategies of the product design are proposed and the navigation platform of the product design is developed based on parameter network. In the end, the assignment and modification of the parameter at the stage of product conceptual design of a diesel engine are as the application examples for authentication.In Chapter One, the importance of the parameter network research in product concept design, product engineering changes and modular product design is described and the inadequacies of the current research are pointed out. The current research about network theory is discussed. Especially, the complex network and its static statistics are analyzed. The centrality of social network is also illuminated. Finally, the dissertation's structure and research content are put forward.In Chapter Two, the quantitative relationship indicators of the parameter network are given and the calculation algorithms are analyzed. First of all, parameters and their relationship are analyzed; Secondly, the expression and the quantitative relationship indicators of the parameter network are given; Finally, the indicators are calculated using depth-first search algorithm and breadth-first search algorithm.In Chapter Three, the design navigation based on parameter network is described. First of all, the parameters are managed using the parameter pool and the relationships of parameters are managed using the relationship pool of the parameter, and the relationships of parameters are mapped into a parameter network; Secondly, the definition, description and construction process of the general product structure are given; Finally, the two design navigation strategies of the product conceptual design are proposed.In Chapter Four, according to the quantitative analysis of the parameter network and the navigation method of the product design, mentioned above, a navigation platform of the product design based on parameter network is developed. Finally, the product conceptual design of a diesel engine is used as an application example of the navigation method based on parameter network for authentication.Chapter Five summarizes the achievements and innovations of this dissertation and prospects the future research in this field.
