Vegetable is one of indispensable subsidiary food in our daily life. As the living standard raised and joined WTO, the safety and quality of vegetable are not only the direct request of consumer, but also the important reference of the competition in the international market. On the other hand, as the large number of vegetable diseases and insects species, frequent occurrence, and vegetable garden scattered, frailness of agrotechnical generalization, and the guidance which is about the identification and control of vegetable diseases and insect pests species hard to put in place, the phenomenon of pesticides indiscriminate use is ubiquity and vegetables pesticide residues is higher.With the popularization of computer applications, the information that acquire and transmit from computer will be used to solve the problem which exists in the manufacture. Based on results of previous researcher, as well as the existing knowledge and manufacture experience, this research simulated the thought of inference which put forward by domain experts, and established a vegetable pest and disease diagnosis and control intelligent systems. Then this system was used by some areas in Jilin Province, and made the vegetable planters and agricultural workers to speak highly.Based on the user needs, we carried out system design. After literature consult, experts visited, experimental study and so on, we obtain origin knowledge that needed by system. The information was arranged and corrected based on production practices and then the standardization information was formed. The system used Sybase Database Management System, programmed with Powerbuild7.0, and then intelligence system knowledge base of vegetable pests diagnosis and control was established.There was seven parts in "Intelligent System for Diagnosis and Control of Vegetable pests" include disease diagnosis, pest diagnosis, pesticide advice, insecticide inquiries, expert advice, green vegetables and help, and involving 68 kinds of vegetables, 812 kinds of vegetable diseases, 169 kinds of pests and more than 320 kinds of pesticides. The questions will be solved using Man-machine dialog.The module of disease diagnosis contain three parts, include pathogen diagnosis, symptoms diagnosis and fuzzy diagnosis, allowing the user who know little knowledge about vegetables can use this diagnosis system smoothly. Thereby the questions about complex diseases diagnosis will be simplified, according with understanding rule, from outside to inside, from complex to simple and achieve the purpose of accurate diagnosis of diseases.Insect diagnosis module contains morphology diagnosis of insect, damage diagnosis and fuzzy diagnosis. It is one of most important subsystem in the"Intelligent System". In morphology diagnosis and damage diagnosis, we design two kinds of third stage diagnosis travelling. One is specie of vegetables, specie of insects and habit of insects and, the other is specie of vegetables, position of damage and main point of damage. Keywords and knowledge points are brief, clear and understandable.Drug consulting module include the selection of pesticide, the manual of drug, combination of drug, identify of drug, poisoning and aid, and safety regulations. This will help users to learn not only basic knowledge of agricultural chemicals but also scientific and rational use of agricultural chemicals to control vegetable disease and pests. This is one of most important part in the Intelligent System.The query of agricultural chemicals module was inquest by name of disease, name of insect and name of drug. "Name of disease" means the name of the vegetable diseases; "name of insect" refers to the name of the vegetable pests; "name of drug" means the name of frequently used agricultural chemicals. When user enter the name of disease, pests or drug, the program will answer all of your request automatically. Also with great interactive and powerful your query can inquest from database of disease, pests or drug, and basically realize man-machine conversation. The design of this subsystem also has some new idea. In addition, each database are open and you can update or upgrade any time.Expert advice subsystem was containing 4 different parts, experts say diseases, experts say insects, and experts say drugs and questions of control. The principle of design is based on the knowledge, experience, and technology of experts, as well as common problems which existed in vegetable planting base. Then the information was refined, processed and finished, and "problem database" was established. With the mode of "question and answer", the system will give scientific answer automatically. After further improvement, information or data will appear another subsystem which will provide an real "expert system".Green vegetables subsystem were set up with 5 parts, included common sense of green vegetables, construction of green base, technology of prevent pest, the restrictions of drugs, the use of drug and the standard of drug residue. This will help users to learn the basic knowledge of green vegetables and key technologies, and also can guide users to produce green vegetables and avoid contaminated food.The development of this system will face to the majority of agricultural workers and farmers. It will provide the knowledge of vegetables safety production and a technical advisory services platform which include identification and control of main pest as well as rational use of drugs. Sothat the system possesses strong practical value and development prospects.
