With the development of network technology, network-based manufacturing has become a hot research increasingly. In fact, because industrial Ethernet technology is not yet fully mature and the development level of manufacturing internal in industrial technology. Ethernet technology fully used in field bus is not premature, so connecting the Field bus and Ethernet is one of methods to achieve networked manufacturing. This paper comes from the project of Internet-based intelligent maintenance of automation equipment systems research, which is for implementation data communications between self-maintenance terminals and field bus equipment in the project.Because of the above purpose, this paper presents an embedded gateway to connect CAN bus to Ethernet. Using of high-performance, low-power 32-bit RISC ARM processor and porting Linux systems, the gateway is intelligent which is not only able to connect two types of networks, but also gives server support to many monitoring computers on Ethernet.The main work of my paper include designing and debuging both of hardware and software, porting Linux system, developing driver and gateway application for simple server on Ethernet and translateing protocol.After experimental verification, the designed embedded gateway to meet the design requirements, which communicats two types of nets and server for ethernet.
