The design scheme of auto body structure needs to repeatedly design and evaluate at the early stage of conceptual design. This process needs to create finite element model repeatedly and by comparing decide the eventual scheme. In this method, the efficiency is low and the rate is slow. At the same time, the conceptual design phase is the important phase to ensure the performance of auto body. The defects left by this stage are not always easy to make up for the subsequent design.The paper according to the task and characteristic of concept design phase, created optimization module of the auto body structure concept design tool—VCD-ICAE (Vehicle Concept Design—intellectualized CAE) system based on platform of COMX. The system can create quickly auto parameterized geometrical model of concept phase by template technology, then the parameter is designed and the pre-process is finished quickly. This method analyses sensitivity of parameters on auto body and the parameters can be optimized. The intelligent process in conceptual design of auto body is achieved.The paper includes following contents:1. The introduction of the platform of COMX.2. Using C++ language created the alternant interface in optimization module of VCD-ICAE on the platform of COMX.3. The simple model is solved by NX Nastran.4. Analyzed the free mode of auto body by finite element model and get one level torsion frequency, one level bending frequency.5. The sensitivity of simply model is calculated by NX Nastran soft and the influence that section area of beam to one level bending modal and torsion modal is studied and the sensitivity is calculated.6. The auto body model is optimized by DOT software.
