Maintenance and inspection work of ship in operation is one of the important factors affecting it's life cycle, that work is a systems engineering formed by a series of management tasks not only both independent of each other, but also target a high degree of consistent, in which there are multi-stakeholder involvements. Clearly, the ship hull structure is critical to the security of ship, so the structural maintenance and inspection is one of the extremely important works. In recent years, management software and related database systems for the ship's equipment inspection and maintenance are introduced, but the maintenance of the hull structure is still stuck in the form of electronic data and paper drawings, it has never been able to achieve digital processing system. The reason is that the ship structure itself is complex, and the data requirements of maintenance and inspection departments is different, coupled with differences in inter-network environment, heterogeneous Inter-technology platform, and so on.Based on the full analysis of work demands and data flows for relevant ship maintenance and inspection departments, this paper takes the order of China's ship repair and maintenance system (CWBT) as the basis, then adds ship structure into the routine inspection and maintenance work, constructs a integral database system. This database system is distributed, supports both exclusive information on various departments and information sharing. The data services platform which is built through information mapping technology between ship models and database, achieves the 3D view function of the maintenance and inspection system. This paper comprehensively expounds the overall architecture and the details of technology achievements of that database.Data exchange and synchronization between the distributed nodes is the key technical issue that this paper is focused to solved, in order to ensure that the database system to operate normally. For the ship-side and shore-side databases of a shipping company, the data synchronization technology strategy in the process of ship maintenance is established. This paper describes the problems of previous data synchronization programs, such as difficult to meet the maintenance requirements of the hull structure, poor data expression format, inconvenience to transmit attachments, and far from being perfect mechanism for the safe handling, detailed defines the specific data flow mode of synchronized data in the maintenance process, and describes the main technical issues in data synchronization process, including XML-based synchronization file expression, processing of incremental synchronization document. synchronization attachment compression, safe handlings for concurrent and deadlock, etc. are described. An internal database system can not only provide data storage services, but also get more valuable knowledge and laws through data analysis and mining, then provide references for decision-makers. Based on the established database system, this paper explores the data mining model structure and algorithm, and takes the characteristics analysis for ship repair activities (dock repair, navigation repair) as an example, conducts a prototype development.This paper implements a software system on the VS2005 platform based on ship maintenance and inspection database system, as well as 3D ship structure models, this system achieves the functions, such as the operation of maintenance records for the daily ship maintenance, operation of defects found records, operation of coating records, user information management, data synchronization, etc.
