Based on the research and sum-up of the development of materials handling system and research status of domestic and abroad, it explains in detail the demand analysis, total design, data integration, database design as well as the realization of each module.1. SCADA(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), It lays stress on the data integration of the system. The system can be communicated with the filed equipment with the aid of the technique of Industrial Ethernet and Fieldbus(PROFIBUS-DP), OPC plays an important role in the system development, which is the newest technique of data exchange. On the basis of introducing advanced OPC technique and with the configuration software RSView32 as the major supporting platform, the SCADA of materials handling which can be applied in the field has been successfully designed. Then it introduces the method of real-time control and the way of warning. Through the database and the configuration software's drivers of I/O devices, it is possible to realize the integration of the management and control.2. Materials Manage System, it lays stress on the study of the Materials Manage System. Through information collection, transmission, processing, storage, to achieve information inquiry, statistical reports, stock maintenance, system maintenance and other functions. Combined with database, bar-coding and computer control technologies, especially the stock characteristics, to design Materials Manage System's framework and core module. Based on that, the efficiency can be raised, the real-time data can be stored and the demand of the modern materials handling system can be met.
