Fault diagnosis system is used to find the point and type of failure for equipment on time. With technology developiong, the structure of equipment is complexity more and more. The traditional fault diagnosis methods can not be satisfacted with fault diagnosis demand any more. We need new intelligent fault diagnosis methods to accommodate the complex structure of equipment . Agent techinuqe is developing with the intelligent problem solving, it will be simple with described, decomposed, distributed for the complex problem,collaterally and coordination for each to accomplish the complex task. The characteristic of interlligent,open and collaboration is tailormade for fault diagnosis system.The paper researches application of multi-agent technology in field of fault diagnosis. With the traditional intelligent fault diagnosis system, according to the structure and features of agent, the Agent of fault diagnosis was designed. With the Agent of fault diagnosis, the model of remote collaboration fault diagnosis system based on multi-agent was designed .Each agent has its own ability of judging, dealing with knowledge and cooperating function with other agents.Key work of the paper is to design a model of remote collaboration fault diagnosis system based on multi-agent which is tailormade for diffient equipment. Key technique is to demonstrate task decomposition, task distribution, task control, the mechanism of collaboration and communication for each Agent, design the structure of fault diagnosis Agent, preliminary probe into its security technique. This paper provides guide in theory for development of application system.
