Recently, multimedia streaming over the Internet is booming. However, the traditional design idea of Internet mode made an inherent gaps and constraints of the development of stream technology that is to meet the needs of end-to-end unicast communication, also it easily lead to such as the waste of resources of the streaming media server and network performance bottlenecks and other problems. Media streaming system based on P2P technology can decentralize the service, alleviate the server loading and distribute media streaming content in a larger scale.Firstly, this paper gave an overview of the latest P2P technology and the technical aspects of streaming media framework on P2P networks, including multimedia encoding technology for network transmission; the QoS control technology of the media streaming application layer; and the multimedia transfer protocol. Secondly, the paper introduces several typical P2P media streaming model, analyzes their different characteristics, and makes the comparison among them. Finally, the paper builds a media streaming live broadcast model called LSMMGP which adhibits the layered management and structure Gossip, describes the system structure and function, data organization, peer management and optimize, Quality of Service (QoS) control,NAT and firewall pass through, presents the buffer memory scheduling scheme, and designs the algorithm of structure Gossip and data scheduling. The results of analysis indicate that the Gossip-based model is simple and it shows good performance, which compares to the tree-based and mesh-based model. This system model achieves a better tradeoff among bandwidth efficiency, delay and reliability. We emphasize five salient features of LSMMGP: 1) ease of implementation, distribution network topology, but not complicated P2P Group Management Protocol; 2) Robustness, Node is not dependent on any other specific nodes, so it has a strong stability and reliability; 3) network with a rapid reaction capacity to respond quickly left to join node; 4) bandwidth adaptability; 5) the lower delay of the entire network nodes.
