Along with GPS technique's widespread use, GSP navigator has extended from seafaring/aerial region to vehicle industry which is closely related to people. In developed countries, PND, who is perceived as a replacement of conventional paper map, is becoming the must-have gadget for driving out. It can be used for addressing capture, view map and the kernel feature--navigate. Although PND can bring a lot conveniences to user, but there are something limitation which can't be resolve. First, the device can be only use for navigate, can't integrated with other electronic device. As a result, it's too big to take away. Second, the map data is huge. As a result, user has to download latest map data to update map or sent device to supplier to update. It's annoying actually.On another hand, along with the accelerated upgrade of mobile phone products and the GPS chip becoming smaller and smaller, GPS chipset has embedded into quite a few mobile phones. At same time, the hardware performance, such as CUP and memory size, has enhanced a lot. So, based on latest operation system, such as Symbian, WM, RIM, J2ME, implement navigator on Mobile Phone is not only a dream. For example, we can transplant the PNG from WinCE platform to mobile phone's windows mobile, that phone can integrate with navigator and support higher cost performance. However, transplant the navigator to phone can't resolve the map update's verbose, and doesn't take any more features to user at all. Consequently, this article is working on design mobile Navigator software, which is a combination of network and PND. Basis on mobile phone network, it extended a lot fashion features which lead to better user experiences, and resolve some problems existing on PND device.This article expresses the background of system and current status of GPS Nav technique development. Then, try to detail the design process of Nav on mobile phone. Firstly, analyses the whole requirement depending on conventional PND features and current high-speed Mobile network. Then advance the working target and design principle. Secondly, discuss the architecture of Nav System and divide into two parts, Backend servers/client on phone. About the backend servers, just introduce the architecture of all servers and each server's function. Thirdly, try to detail client's design and implementation and analyze every module's implementation, including Login, Address capture, POI search, Map, Nav, Tools and extras etc. And describe the latest features such as Traffic, address sharing, online Fav. Last part, it propose the detail solution of Network protocol, 2-D map impl, Nav Core Engine, 3-D Navmap, and framework for multi-platform which lead to convenient of transplant.In a word, the new Nav on mobile phone can give user fashion experience and push Nav product to a higher level.
